Age Of Calamitous Magic Guide:

“There is a balance in magic and always a cost. Magic is tied to different sources, which requires a unique approach depending on the type of Magic in question.”

When selecting your Faction, you’ll be given the opportunity to pick up the feat: Ancient Arts. When you Speak to your Faction Magus. You can now start to explore the world for ways to learn the Ancient Arts! Important Points AoC magics are broken into five types: Arcane, Blood, Fire, Earth, Air. Each type has 5 levels of mastery. There are many spells hidden in AoC lore stones scattered throughout the map. Aside from these hidden spells, there are also spells exclusive to certain factions or sub-factions.

All spells require two components, a magical weapon and the spell component. You will need both to utilize any AoC magic. Spells require Feats. And the most primary of the Feats is “The Ancient Arts”. Without this you cannot learn magic.

In some cases you will need to have attained a certain level in some cases to learn the spells. Within the spell descriptions in this guide, you will see those that have special Level, Faction, or Level requirements noted out.

How to Acquire Your Magics:

Your Grand Magi gives you your first book needed to unlock all the other magics in the game, “The Ancient Arts”. Learning this unlocks the 'Studies of Ancient Arts' crafting station. It is also the major tome for the Arcane Magics.

For those factions that magic is not a natural learned talent there are specific Magus that teach the Ancient arts scattered about the Exiled Lands.

Arcane Magic:

Arcane Magic is the type of Magic that draws its power from Magical Sources, like old relics, conjurations, and channeling others' magic. Arcane Magic must be channeled through objects/beings and into the caster, where there is a limited amount of power that can be drawn, as it has a high risk of destroying what it channels as well as overwhelming the caster to the point of death.

Arcane Shrine: Entrance is underneath Bobby's Sanctuary Platform, in G11, just jump in and swim down. The altar is inside an ancient structure closest to a Ships Hull in the Largest of the three caverns. After attuning and exiting, surface and exit the caverns via Bobby's Sanctuary Portal. WARNING: Once you enter the Underwater Passage - you can't get out easily - bring lots of underwater breathing potions and the mask to help you survive. (See Detailed instructions to Bobby's Lair for this location!)

Tome of Arcane Arts: Magus of the Arcane Arts- Gives you the Tome of the Arcane Arts. Inside Wine Cellar dungeon (B7), at the final boss room on top of the balcony. This costs - 100 Arcane Essence. This tome stays in your altar. And is the key to all your Arcane magics.

The Arcane Sanctuary This is your Altar, the site where you create your magic. You will make this item in your inventory. You may use a NPC called a Keeper of Knowledge or Torchbearer here.

Essence Collector A magical grinder used to collect Arcane Power Gems. Grinds relics, turning them into power gems. Your tool for this magic.

Arcane Power Gem A resource generated when a relic item is placed inside the Essence Collector. Number of power gems depends on the grade of the relics. Relics (Fragments of power, Tablet of power, Relics from AoC bosses etc).

Leveling your Arcane Magic (Tomes of Attunement): Mystic Ascension Vol. 1: Elder Arkan Quan'thus - 75 Arcane Essences, 10 Mystical Potions, 30 Ectoplasms. Inside Palace of the Witch Queen, behind her throne. Entrance to the palace is located at southwest of O6, bordering O5. Mystic Ascension Vol. 2: Inside Palace of the Witch Queen, at the base of a pillar before entering the boss chamber. go down once you enter the palace. Mystic Ascension Vol. 3: Inside Well of Skelos, located just outside on the right of the final boss area. Mystic Ascension Vol. 4: Dropped from a raid boss named 'Ashira the Ethereal'. Found inside the Elven Covenant camp in E5.

Magical Leveling Requirements: Once you have obtained your Tome of Arcane Arts and Mystic Attunement, go to the Arcane Shrine and activate it. To level up your magic, Once you have the requirements in your inventory, touch the Shrine of Arcane Element again. Arcane Magic II - Requires = Mystic Ascension Vol. 1, 25 Fire Power Gems, Level 25. Arcane Magic III - Requires = Mystic Ascension Vol. 2, 70 Fire Power Gems, Level 40. Arcane Magic IV - Requires = Mystic Ascension Vol. 3, 150 Fire Power Gems. Level 80 Arcane Magic V - Requires = Mystic Ascension Vol. 4, 300 Fire Power Gems. Level 120.

Blood Magic:

Blood Magic is the darkest form of Magic as it requires a sacrifice to fuel its power. This type of Magic is mainly used for Curses, Plagues, Substance Control, and in rare cases, controllable reanimation. Blood Magic draws its power from sacrifice, may it be a humanoid or animal sacrifice. And the size and quality of the magic are tied to the number of sacrifices.

Blood: Necromancer Felekai Rothheartcan be found Inside The Well of Skelos, located in the open area in front of the gate guardian. The Volcano, F/G14. He will provide you with the “Demonic Attunement (Feat)”.

Blood Shrine Unnamed city - Found at the plateau above the Red Mother dragon. D6.

Tome of Blood Magic This tome is a recipe for all things Blood Magic. Found in "The Passage" Entrance J9. Follow the instructions for navigating "The Passage" Costs = 5 Emerald shards

Shrine of the Harbinger This is your altar for Blood Magics. Hand crafted in your inventory, it requires Tome of Blood Magic, Skull of the Harbinger, 600 Onyx, 5 Demon Blood Potion, 15 Blood of the Devil Bear. You will need Rubies to fuel this altar.

Skull of the Harbinger Is a crafting material for the Shrine of the Harbinger. Obtained from Rayth, the Harbinger of Souls (Raid Boss)-Center of Unnamed City at D6. Hard BOSS take friends.

The Demonic Siphoning This is this devotions magical tool used to collect Blood Power Gems from scourge creatures' corpses. Created in the Blood Shrine for 125 Elarikan powder, 15 Onyx Composite, 3 Rubies.

Blood Power Gem A blood red gem that is gathered when you use your Siphoning tool on a scourge creature's corpse. Will yield 1 gem per harvest.

Leveling your Blood Magics (Tomes of Attunement): Demonic Ascension Vol. 1: Warlock Sodarion Hillburn. 10 Blood of the Devil Bear, 15 Cursed Undead Remains, 75 Dragonfern Plants Inside the west mound, in B11. Demonic Ascension Vol. 2: Drops from Scourge Snake, which is a random miniboss spawned around the Unnamed City. can also be found east of the Mounds, or inside the passage. Demonic Ascension Vol. 3: Drops from Scourge Spider, which is a random miniboss spawned around the Unnamed City. can also be found east of the Mounds, or inside the passage. Demonic Ascension Vol. 4: Inside the Citadel of the Triumvirate south of D6, by the foot of the first statue on the left. This is the room of the snake boss.

Elemental Magic:

Elemental Magic is the ability to control and manipulate the environment around the caster. With this form of Magic, the caster is able to destroy, move or transform objects of nature. Elemental Magic draws its power from nature to manipulate the surroundings. Elemental Magic is the easiest Magic to cast as it can be channeled between objects instead of the caster. However, the elements can only be controlled in their own environment, meaning water can't appear out of thin air in a desert as an example.

Nature or Elemental - (Fire, Air, and Earth):

‌The Scholar for learning Elemental magic is Druid Asteria Margona. She will provide you with “Nature Attunement (Feat)”. she is found at the center of the Island near the Descent of Dagon in M6. The Earth Call monument is nearby.

Leveling your Nature Magics (Tomes of Attunement): Nature Ascension Vol. I: Elena Amury: 25 Bitter Crinilas, 18 Mystical Plants, 10 Vulcan Bees. On the central pillar inside a vanilla dungeon named 'The Passage'. Entrance at K9. You will need climbing gear for this one. Nature Ascension Vol. II: Kharissa Demont: 20 Star Metal Ores, 10 Black Lotuses, 25 Fireblooms. In front of Set Religion Teacher in G7. Near the Shaderion Encampment. Nature Ascension Vol. III: Ostava Easglespan - 65 Fireblooms, 80 Aurora Herbs, 10 Mystical Potions. Inside Temple of Frost. Entrance to the temple is between D14 and E14. Nature Ascension Vol IV: Can be found on a table inside a tower north of Ashira's Rise in E5.

Fire Element:

Shrine of Fire Element Go through the Dragon's Mouth Passage which is in E5. Once you get to a pool of lava, you will need to hop over rocks to get to it.

Tome of Fire Element Magus of the Fire Element: 3 Topaz, 30 Firebloom, To Find the Magus travel Inside The Arena/The Sinkhole (H6). Go through the dungeon as you normally would, after fighting the undead dragon, go up the stairs behind the boss. You will come across a lore stone that glows red. Turn either left or right and go around the arena, He is standing on top of the platform overlooking the entrance.

The Altar of the Sun This is your altar for Fire Magics. Hand crafted in your inventory, it requires Tome of Fire Element, 6 Silks, 12 Coals, 50 Stones. You will need Topazes to fuel this altar.

The Edge of Kyloth This is this devotions magical tool used to collect Fire Power Gems from humanoid corpses. Created in The Altar of the Sun for 10 Vanadium, 5 Mystical Dust, 3 Topaz.

Fire Power Gem A resource gathered when the Fire magic tool is used on a humanoid corpse. Will yield 1 gem per harvest.

Earth Element:

Shrine of Earth Element Inside Xalthar's Refuge in J7, around the back, hard to miss! Xalthar's is found in the gully between the Vanghoul's Outcast Camp and the ridge across from it. It will be a cave right up under the cliff that the Vanghoul's live on. The Outcasts of Sobek live in this cave.

Tome of Earth Element Magus of the Earth Element -Gives you the Tome of the Earth Element. He is located in northern H4 inside of Gallaman's Tomb.

The Earth Altar This is your altar for Earth Magics. Hand crafted in your inventory, it requires 5 Carbon, 15 Mystical Dust, 3 Emeralds. You will need Emeralds to fuel this altar.

The Sickle of Serenity This is this devotions magical tool used to collect Earth Power Gems from rare lotuses. Created in The Earth Altar for 5 Carbon, 15 Mystical Dust, 3 Emeralds.

Earth Power Gem Found when a Sickle of Serenity is used on a rare lotus flower. Will yield 1 gem per harvest.

Air Element:

Shrine of Air Element Located at the Outcasts Camp on top of the Mountain in C12 - just above where the Solo Frost Giant's Camp is. Follow the ridge on the right side as you come into the Frozen Lake area. Hike back to the top of the spire at the end, and then around the side of the spire. There you will see the pathway to get to the Felgarth Outcasts Camp.

Tome of Air Element Magus of the Air Element - Gives you the Tome of the Air Element. Found inside The Black Keep dungeon. . F12

The Tempest Altar This is your altar for Air Magics. Hand crafted in your inventory, it requires Tome of Air Element, 950 Stones, 25 Coals, 20 Bitter Crinila Dust, 20 Dragonfern Dust. You will need Sapphires to fuel this altar.

The Storm Hammer This is this devotions magical tool used to collect Air Power Gems from AoC ore nodes. Created in The Tempest Altar for 15 Moon Dust, 15 Mystical Dust, 3 Sapphires.

Air Power Gem Found within AoC ore nodes when hit with a Storm Hammer, Will yield 1 gem per harvest.

Water Element:

Shrine of Water Element: You will find the Shrine outside of one of the temples within the Dungeon of Dagon. It is the temple to the right of the final boss temple (The one with grills). Entrance to Dungeon of Dagon is Southwest of O6.

Tome of Water Element: Magus of the Water Element - costs 100 Calathuia Plants, 30 Fireblooms. Magus is found inside the Underwater Cavern, at the halfway point before you reach Bobby. The entrance of the Underwater Cavern is located inside a vanilla dungeon named 'The Passage', and the entrance of The Passage is in K9.

The Sanctum of Coralina: This is your Water Magic crafting station. Unlocked once you touch the Shrine of Water Element successfully for the first time. It is hand-crafted. The fuel is Sapphire. Requires a Tome of Water Element, 950 Stone, 25 Coals, 20 Bitter Crinila Dust, 20 Dragonfern Dust. Hand crafted in your inventory.

Coralina's Kiss: A magical dagger used to collect Water Power Gems from water-based creature corpses. Made in the Sanctum it costs 10 Vanadium, 5 Mystical Dust, 3 Topaz.

Water Power Gem: A resource gathered when Coralina's Kiss is used on a water-based creature corpse. Will yield 1 gem per harvest.

Water Magic I: The first level of Water Magic, obtained when you first use the Shrine of Water Element successfully. Water Magic II The second level of Water Magic. Costs 25 Water Power Gems Requires Level 25. Water Magic III The third level of Water Magic. Costs 70 Water Power Gems. Requires Level 40. Water Magic IV The forth level of Water Magic. Costs 150 Water Power Gems. Requires Level 80" Water Magic V The final level of Water Magic. Costs 300 Water Power Gems. Requires Level 120.
