VALHEIM ~ YOUR VIKING ADVENTURE AWAITS!

Welcome to The PACKS VALHEIM PvE-P Server.

Patch 0.218.15 – Ashlands

The world is heating up and in the south something is stirring... The creatures of the Ashlands come to life as the biome update is here at last! After three weeks in the Public Test Branch, we believe we have ironed out most of the wrinkles with the update already, but please keep in mind that hotfixes and such are still likely to happen within the near future! Before you dive into the game, please do take a look at our preparation guide. This guide touches important matters such as world generation and mods. You will find the detailed patch notes (full of spoilers) down below. Please respect those who don't want to see spoilers before they play.

Detailed Patch Notes:

New content:

Mechanics:

  • Beware the skies! Cinders rain down from above in the Ashlands, causing damage to those who are unprotected

  • Wooden build pieces can now catch fire in the Ashlands – and the fire spreads!

  • A new world modifier that allows fire to spread outside of the Ashlands as well (part of the immersive preset)

  • Deadly lava takes up large parts of the landscape; traverse it with your very own platforms

  • Lay claim to Charred Fortresses with two new Siege Machines

  • New plantable Ashvines will grow on the walls of your base

  • Combine your Flametal weapons with gems (Bloodstone, Iolite & Jade) in order to upgrade them to magical weapons (giving them blood, storm and nature based effects respectively)

  • The waters in and around the Ashlands are boiling hot, and only the sturdiest of ships can sail them

Before you set sail towards the Ashlands, it contains important information! NOTE! Unfortunately there are currently some issues with the Microsoft and Xbox versions of Valheim, which means there will be a slight delay in getting the update properly uploaded there. However, the current version on Xbox Flight is the same as the version coming to live, so crossplay will still be possible between Xbox Flight and Default Steam games.

Getting Ready for the Ashlands

Getting Ready for the Ashlands

Terrain Generation and New Content

As always, new content will only be generated properly in previously unexplored areas of the game. Therefore, if you have already explored a lot of the Ashlands, the update will not generate properly in that world and we recommend that you start a new one. If you haven’t explored the Ashlands, you should get the new content, but we always recommend that you start a new world for the best possible experience. You can of course start a new world with an older character, if you don’t want to play through the whole game again before being able to conquer the Ashlands.

Additionally, the Ashlands update features some significant changes to the terrain generation around the Ashlands. The Ashlands will only be accessible by ship, and the terrain around it has been lowered and turned to ocean. This also affects any buildings you might have in that area – if they are built on terrain that gets altered, they will collapse. The images below illustrate what happens to a spawned location versus what happens to a player built structure. As you can see, even if the spawned building remains intact, it will be rather difficult to reach it, as the terrain around it is vastly lower.

Preparation and Difficulty

Before you travel to the Ashlands, you should first make sure that you have defeated The Queen in the Mistlands. If you have done so on an earlier playthrough, remember that her dropped item is no longer a placeholder. Just like Eikthyr’s antler lets you craft a pickaxe needed in the Black Forest, and just like The Elder drops a crypt key for the Swamps, the item from The Queen will be useful in the Ashlands! If you have the item already, you might need to toss it out of your inventory and pick it up again, for new recipes to trigger properly.

We also want to remind everyone that Valheim is meant to be a difficult game, and that it’s meant to be more difficult the further you progress – and the Ashlands is the penultimate biome of the game. If you’re confident in your skills, by all means, go forth! But if you haven’t played for a while or if you’re feeling a bit rusty, we recommend a bit of practice to get back into it, or that you adjust the difficulty in the World Modifiers menu.

Mods

Like every time when we update the game, it will take some time for mods to catch up and be playable again. If you’re using mods, it’s therefore recommended that you disable them before you download the Ashlands update, otherwise the game will most likely not launch properly. To disable mods you will also need to remove BepInEx or any other mod loader, as they might try to load regardless.

If you don’t want to play without mods, you will most likely have to wait a couple of days until the mod creator has updated their mod to be compatible with Valheim again.

BUG REPORTING

Valheim developer Iron Gate runs an official bug page where you can report issues you have, as well as upvote existing issues and let them know which ones are the bugs to squish first.

IRON GATE STUDIO ~ VALHEIM DEVELOPERS

Everyone at Iron Gate has really been appreciating all the messages, love, questions and thoughts from all of you, so please keep them coming! And again, a big thank you to all of you for helping us reach this ridiculous milestone in under two weeks of sailing onto Early Access. We’re so excited to continue working with you all to reach Asgard together, and we’ll be sharing more soon on what’s next. Praise Odin! The Iron Gate Team __ Follow us on social media to not miss out on any news!

"Slain in battle, you have been carried to the tenth world. Here, in Valheim, you must conquer the realm and slay the monsters which Odin banished here long ago. Explore deep forest and freezing mountains, and build new settlements on the other side of vast seas – and gain the Allfather’s favour to become worthy of Valhalla!"

Valheim is a game about exploring a huge fantasy world inspired by Norse mythology and Viking culture. You start your adventure at the relatively peaceful center of Valheim. The further from the center you travel, the more challenging the world becomes.

"Raise your own viking mead halls, houses, castles, and more with our powerful construction interface. From knarrs to imposing warships, build legendary vessels to conquer the seas and discover new lands."

Valheim has a rich build menu which can be used to create impressive structures to satisfy the needs of any discerning warrior. Not only can players build houses and outposts, but players have been seen using this building interface to create massive bridges, works of art, defense's from the Creatures of Valheim

You can build many different workbenches and crafting stations like kilns, smelters and windmills that you can use for refining raw materials. Use the materials you have gathered to craft an array of different armors, weapons and tools. You can also build boats and bases.

This brutal exploration and survival game can be played by 1-10 players at a time.

Its vast, rich world allows you to battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin's patronage!
